Denise Perrier kicks off Jazz from the Tip

The legendary San Francisco jazz critic Phil Elwood had this to say about her: “Perrier’s work is big, rich and melodic and hits home with a remarkable punch.” Jazz Times wrote: “Ms. Perrier boasts a gorgeous instrument.” And Bryan Gould, founder of Swing Fever, said: “She’s the real deal, right in there with Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington.” She’s classic, classy and completely captivating, whether delivering sizzling standards, smoky blues or the spicy Latin numbers that started her career. She’s played everywhere from Yoshi’s to the supper clubs of New York to tours of Europe and Asia. They’re especially crazy for this Louisiana-born Bay Area resident in Russia, where she’s performed 20 times and recorded her most recent album backed by the Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra. Known as “the voice with a heart,” she is an American musical treasure, and we couldn’t be more honored to have her inaugurate our new series Jazz from the Tip, and we urge you not to miss it.
